MatchCo FoundationWe just can't seem to say goodbye yet! We have one last blog post lined up for you. I’m sure all the makeup lovers will know the feeling of ordering a foundation online and getting the wrong shade – such a pain! Of course, we all could just walk into Boots or Brown Thomas and get perfectly matched but who has time for that anymore? MatchCo have been listening. MatchCo is a makeup brand dedicated to matching foundations via and app! With the use of Artificial Intelligence, MatchCo can take swatches from your wrist and face to detect your perfect shade. Once you have followed the routine procedures (I will discuss in detail soon) the app will show you your ‘perfect’ shade. It sounds pretty promising but how accurate can it be? (Nygaard, 2020) I came across this brand while down a ‘YouTube rabbit hole’ of Beauty Gurus and found a video by Safiya Nygaard who tried and tested it herself. Her results were surprisingly positive but she did mention the foundation was the slightest bit to light for her. The application and coverage of the foundation, however, was slick and easy to wear. It lasted her the whole day without needing a top-up. ![]() (Mychaskiw, 2020) So how does it work? Once the app is downloaded the user is instructed to calibrate their phone on a stack of 5 pieces of regular, white paper. Once calibrated, the flash on the user’s phone will be activated and instructions are read aloud manually from the phone (sounds a bit like Siri). The user is told to pat the back-camera function on the front and back of the wrist 5 times, following the same steps with the forehead and both cheeks. This is all the information it needs! Then it’s just waiting for the packaging to arrive. All this for $49 – do you think that’s too expensive for a customized foundation? Let us know! (Nygaard, 2020) Bibliography

Well Guys, that is it from our Beautai team. We really enjoyed doing these blog posts as a part of our assignment. We also never knew how much Artificial intelligence was changing the Cosmetic industry!
Here is a summary of some of our favorite blog posts: 1. Xenex: Kim wrote this blog about an interesting product called the Xenex. The Xenex is a sanitation robot located in around 250 hospitals in the US. Its aim is to eliminate harmful microorganisms through a special UV disinfection process. This was definitely one of our teams favourite. Especially with the given circumstances, it is fantastic to see what technology can make. 2. Oral B toothbrush: Caitlin wrote about how Oral B’s electric toothbrush uses Artificial Intelligence. The features include how to check how much pressure you use while brushing your teeth and It scores how well you brush your teeth through the app out of 100! Our favourite feature is the 6 modes you can choose from whether it be from whitening to teeth sensitivity. I mean who doesn’t love a good toothbrush and through AI it has become even better. 3.. CareOS Panasonic Care Mirror As a group that love anything make up or hair related, we know how important having a good mirror is. That’s why Kate’s piece on Pansonics Mirror is one our top favourites. The mirror uses augmented reality. Through augmented reality the mirror allows you to virtually try new hair style and colors, look at make-up tutorials and try products on. It also is able to analyse skin condition. Speaking on behalf of our team I think that’s a product we would love! 4. Hello Ava The Hello Ava skincare consultations was a great piece written by Cathal. It showed a different side to artificial intelligence where it was a product being made. How it works is they provide Skin consultations by using AI. They use the customers online consultation and put it with the data used from previous clients which then computer use to pick a product. Of course, it is not wise to just trust a computer, so their licensed skin experts who check the algorithms than the products can be ready to go. This was different way AI was used which was definitely different and intriguing. Any of those blogs that I have mentioned and you want to read more on, they are of course still available on our website. That is, it though from us. We thank everyone for helping us out and appreciate the time people took to read any of our blogs and can assure you that there will be plenty more great things coming from us in the future. Team Beautai Hey Guys! Welcome to the final blog post! Yes, this is our last blog unfortunately but we do hope they’ve been enjoyed 😊 This blog is based around a hair care company called Prose and how they use artificial intelligence to their advantage. About the company Prose sole purpose is to create hair care products. The idea is not to create generalized hair care products for everyone it was to customize products for each individual consumer. They create their products made to order for optimal radiance and freshness (Prose, 2020). How they use Artificial Intelligence For great hair care combinations of many and different ingredients for each different and unique person. Prose wanted to assess the individual needs. By emerging beauty and artificial intelligence, they were able to create personalized formulas. Through AI Prose consultations take information on hair type, lifestyle (diet and exercise habits), where you live (this is for water quality and humidity) and of course any preferences such as vegan or more shine. There are 50 billion possible formulas. (Prose, 2020) Another cool feature: The algorithm takes in the feedback from prose consumers which is then fed back into the algorithm. Through machine learning the formulas are always being optimized. Co- creation is an essential. Prose Consultation So, what questions are asked to get a consumer their perfect hair care product? Well I took it to find out! 1.Sign up To sign up all you have to do is give your email address and you click into the link sent to your inbox 2. Questions There are about around 28 questions
As I could not give my zip code, I gave Phoenix and this were my results.
3. Payment The results then lead to the products best for you. Which are usually a shampoo and conditioner. Although the quiz was interesting and fun, as a college student I was not ready to spend $70.40 on a hair mask, conditioner and shampoo! So that is how to get the perfect hair care using Artificial intelligence! Something I will not be purchasing until I am out of college or I move to America! Using high tech surface's care OS has taken a different spin and augmented reality so that you can apply it more to all aspects of your life, so it is more customized to the individual. Hey guys! Welcome back to Beautai Blog. Today I am going to focus on a company that is using innovations in ultrasound technology to create amazing skincare devices that we think will become of the next big trends in the beauty industry this decade. Reziena is a skincare company that makes skincare devices and products that address anti-aging related skincare concerns. What sets them apart from other skincare companies that sell creams with hugely exaggerated marketing claims and advertisements? They have decided to invest in developing ultrasound technology that has previously only been available to consumers if they are patients in dermatology clinics or advanced skincare clinics. This technology is slowly becoming more accessible to everyday consumers to purchase for at home use. (Reziena Skincare, 2020) (10 Beauty Tech Trends to Watch in 2020, 2020) As we start the aging process, our skin gradually becomes weaker. Levels of collagen, our skins main structural protein, begin to deplete from the skin. As a result of this skin elasticity, moisture levels and skin firmness all decrease leading to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Unfortunately, this is the normal aging process for every human. However, it can be slowed down and managed with help from good skincare products and tools such as the FDA approved devices from Reziena. (Reziena Skincare, 2020) (【Reziena】手のひらサイズの在宅アンチエイジングスキンケア, 2020) The Reziena handheld device works by gliding across the skin on the users face and delivering powerful ultrasound energy into the skin. This helps products placed under the device penetrate into the dermal layer of the skin, which improves their effectiveness. The ultrasound energy also tightens and firms aging skin. The device also causes what's called a ‘micro damage’ on the skin. This is essentially intentional trauma to the skin that tricks the body into producing more collagen and so appears more youthful. The device connects to an app via Bluetooth so users can track their results from using the device. Each device is sold with gel for the ultrasound and aftercare products to improve results. Stay in touch with us over on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook so you won’t miss out on any of our last blogs. (@beautaiblogs) In today’s vlog I will be talking about one of 2020’s most exciting beauty technology innovations. Perso is an intelligent beauty device created by beauty corporation L'Oréal. The device has three in one capabilities and can be used to create personalized skincare, foundation and liquid lipsticks. Powered by artificial intelligence, it uses L’Oreals modiface technology to scan the consumers face through a phone camera on the Perso app. This collects information such as skin tone, skin color, eye color and other information needed when choosing cosmetics for an individual. It also uses data from the app to determine pollution levels, air quality and humidity in the user's area. These are all factors that can contribute to different skin concerns. The ModiFace technology can also detect pore visibility, fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and skin firmness to create skincare that will address these conditions. (L’Oréal Unveils Perso, The World’s First AI-Powered Device for Skincare And Cosmetics - L’Oréal Group | World Leader in Beauty | Official Website, 2020) (L’Oréal Unveils Perso, The World’s First AI-Powered Device for Skincare And Cosmetics - L’Oréal Group | World Leader in Beauty | Official Website, 2020) Perso works by combining artificial intelligence technology with its patented robotic and motor dispenser system. Each device has cartridges that produce the personalized products. Perso can also make any color foundation using modiface technology or any lipstick color by using a picker tool to select any shade from a picture on the user's device such as a phone or tablet. This allows users to easily co-ordinate lipstick shades with outfits and other accessories. (L’Oréal Unveils Perso, The World’s First AI-Powered Device for Skincare And Cosmetics - L’Oréal Group | World Leader in Beauty | Official Website, 2020) Check out the video below of how Perso works! Perso uses cartridges that each have a specific function and color. For example, there are different skincare cartridges, foundation cartridges and color cartridges for the lipsticks. Each one lasts thirty applications and can be swapped in and out of the device easily for different options. L’Oreal also plans on creating the functionality of being able to link social media accounts to the devices so users can share colors or other modiface A.I makeup pictures to their followers. It is expected to laucnch in 2021. (L’Oréal’s latest gadget mixes lipstick based on what your favorite influencers wear, 2020). Atolla has you covered. From august 2019, Atolla started to produce personalized serums, this was setup by an MIT engineer who was using machines and algorithms to help fix skin. Also, the co-founded Meghan Maupin who had worked before on customization 3D printing using AI in college it was during that that she thought she could use tech to help improve skin. So, the perfect team of a scientist and a dermatologist was made to deliver unique skin care kits. (15 Trends Changing The Face Of The Beauty Industry In 2020 | CB Insights Research, 2020) What does Atolla offer? Atolla are using AI technology to create the perfect customized serums. You first order your at home start up kit and download the mobile app so you can set up your own SKin Profile. This kit is used to find out all the little details about your skin. In the kit you'll get a set of tests, the first test will measure how much moisture and oil your skin has or needs. The second test is the PH test and this test will test the health of your skin and sees how much protection you need from things like allergens, bacteria and pollution. The third test provided is all about your own preference, you get samples of types of serums that you can try and see what feels best texture wise so they can try to incorporate it into your serum. How these tests work is that you don't send these tests back, you actually scan them from your phone from home and they will transfer the information needed. Along with these tests you are asked personal questions to know more about you and your needs, this means explain your lifestyle so what your diet is like and your overall environment so the serum can try tackle all the elements. After all information is given you are shown what your skin says you'll need for your formula so it's like a review of what you'll be getting.(Atolla | How It Works, 2020) This is a monthly subscription service so along with the first serum test pack you'll get one every time your new serum arrives so you can continuously update your skin profile. This is helpful as people's environment and lifestyle change all the time along with seasonal changes so what your skin needs from last month might be what it needs this month. This also helps Atolla to learn more about your skin and its habits. The app has an algorithm that will not just have insight onto your needs but will know others' skin and see if anyone has similar problems and if they have found a solution that could possibly help you.(Aouf, 2020) Follow our Instagram!!!! @beautaiblogs Bibliography
